AFT vs ACFT: What Changed With the Army Fitness Test
AFT and ACFT are closely related, but they are not the same page or the same calculator anymore. The AFT became the current Army test of record on June 1, 2025, while ACFT scoring is now legacy.
The short version
The ACFT was the six-event Army Combat Fitness Test. The current AFT is the five-event Army Fitness Test.
The most visible event change is that the Standing Power Throw is no longer part of the current AFT.
The AFT keeps familiar events such as the deadlift, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry, plank, and two-mile run.
Why the change matters for calculators
If you need a current Army PT score, use an AFT calculator. It should score five events and apply current AFT passing standards.
If you are checking an older six-event result, use a legacy ACFT calculator. That page should clearly label ACFT as legacy so users do not confuse it with current standards.
Keeping the two calculators separate helps users and search engines understand which page answers which question.
Important implementation dates
The Army announced the AFT as the test of record beginning June 1, 2025.
Combat standard implementation has additional 2026 timing for affected components, so current pages should mention update dates and link back to official sources.
Because policy pages can change, calculators and guides should be reviewed whenever the Army updates official AFT material.
Did the AFT replace the ACFT?
Yes. The AFT became the Army's current test of record beginning June 1, 2025. ACFT scoring remains useful for legacy six-event results.
Which calculator should I use now?
Use the current Army PT calculator for AFT scores. Use the ACFT calculator only when you specifically need legacy six-event ACFT scoring.
