Score calculation
How Army PT Scores Are Calculated
The current Army Fitness Test uses five scored events. Your raw performance is converted into event points, then those event points are added into one total Army PT score.
Event Points
Each AFT event is scored from 0 to 100 points based on your raw performance, age group, and scoring column.
Total Score
Your total Army PT score is the sum of the five event scores, with 500 as the maximum possible score.
Event Minimum
A passing total does not override a failed event. Every scored event must reach at least 60 points.
General vs Combat
Army PT Passing Standards
The General standard is the baseline passing threshold for the current AFT. The Combat standard uses the same 60-point event minimum but raises the total score requirement from 300 to 350.
This is why score interpretation matters: a Soldier can have a total score that looks strong but still fail if any required event falls below 60 points.

How To Read The AFT Score Chart
The official AFT score chart maps raw event performance to points. Instead of scanning a large table, use the calculator for exact points and use the chart guidance below to understand how the score is interpreted.
Choose The Right Event
AFT score chart rows are organized by event, such as MDL, HRP, SDC, PLK, and 2MR.
Match Age And Column
Points depend on the selected age group and scoring column. Use the same age and column in the calculator.
Compare Raw Result To Threshold
Strength and repetition events improve as numbers go up. Timed events improve as completion time goes down.
Score meaning
What Is A Good Army PT Score?
A passing AFT score starts at 300 for the General standard and 350 for the Combat standard. Higher scores show stronger performance, but the first goal is balanced scoring across all events because the 60-point event minimum applies to every scored event.
